Exploring the Benefits of WordPress Transients

Event Details

Our group has a meetup scheduled for Monday, June 12th at 7 PM. We’ll be meeting at Ryan’s Pub in West Chester. Our speaker will be one of our own group members. In fact, it’ll be me! I’m Ashley Pfeil. I’ve been a co-organizer of this group since January & a member since 2019.

I’ll be doing a presentation about WordPress transients. They’re a form of caching. They’re somewhat more common in plugins, but they’re not necessarily limited to them. Never heard of them? Neither had I until a couple of years ago, because I didn’t have as much experience creating plugins as I did custom themes. I’ll be discussing what they are, when you might wish to use them, and how to set them up. I’ll also go over how to manage them, and provide several examples.

Now, who am I, you might ask? I’m a frontend web developer. I’ve been a developer for 9 years now. Currently I work for a small agency in Elkins Park, PA called Nexvel Solutions. We have many traditional and headless WordPress websites. I’m also a member of the Philadelphia WordPress Meetup Group. I live in the Fox Chase section of Northeast Philly.
