Building a Child Theme for a Block Theme

Event Details

NOTE: The map above is not accurate. While we work to address the issue, you can get directions from Google Maps for Executive Office Link, 5 Great Valley Parkway, Malvern, PA, 19355.

Join us for another in-person meetup where we will learn about making child themes for block themes in WordPress. Matt Ryan will talk us through what a child theme is, why we might want to use one, and how to create one for a block theme.

Please note that as we are meeting in person, you are invited to pay the $5 registration fee. Those for whom this would be a burden are welcome to use the discount code (which we share for our online meetings) posted on the registration page.

A New Venue

Following our recent discussions and survey, it was clear that our group was eager to try meeting at somewhere more controlled like a co-working space. Given that, we are holding our November meeting at Executive Office Link in Malvern, PA.

While we are excited to meet at this new location, there are a few aspects we want to flag up to you:

  1. The meeting room seats 18 – and no more than 18. Given the attendee numbers that we have had in recent months, a space this size seemed right. If our in-person attendee numbers return to pre-pandemic levels, we will certainly consider alternative locations.
  2. There is a booking fee for this venue. As such, the $5 attendance fee will go towards that – and not towards pizza or other food. Thanks for your understanding. We are very grateful to Matt Lewis and GreenStreet Technology Solutions for sponsoring the venue hosting. As such, pizza is back on the menu. Thanks Matt and GreenStreet Technology Solutions!

To be clear, we are exploring other meeting venues and will be sure to keep our group informed about developments.
